Jerry Combs, 62, of Golf Course Road, passed away on Saturday, July 4, 2009 at Glens Falls Hospital after a courageous 4-year battle with cancer.
Born on October 5, 1946 in Glens Falls, he was the son of Clifton C. and Lida “Dolly” (Dahmer) Combs.
Jerry graduated from Warrensburg Central School and attended SUNY New Paltz.
Jerry married Colleen Mayes on June 10, 1967. He was a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers, Local 106, Albany for over 35 years, operating heavy equipment (mostly cranes) on dozens of construction sites.
He enjoyed restoring and riding/driving antique motorcycles and cars, building model train layouts, reading, listening to classical music, canoeing Adirondack lakes with his wife, and spending time with his beloved daughter, son and granddaughters.
He is predeceased by his parents.
In addition to his wife of 42 years, Jerry is survived by his daughter, Sunday and her husband, Derrick Conine of Thurman; his son, J Combs of Warrensburg; his granddaughters, Paisley Conine and Winnie Conine of Thurman; his sister, Candy and her husband, Shirley Terrell, of El Paso, Texas; his brother, Lin and his wife Tina, of Eden Prairie, Minnesota; his brother, Dan and Jill Fulmer of Shannon, Virginia; his brother, Russ of Warrensburg; his brother, Erick and his wife Kim of Yelm, Washington; as well as many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
Friends may call on Jerry’s family from 4 to 7 pm Wednesday, July 8, 2009, at the Alexander-Baker Funeral Home, 3809 Main Street, Warrensburg.
A memorial service to celebrate his life will follow the visitation at 7 pm Wednesday at the funeral home.
