There aren't enough words to describe my father, John Steven Mandinec. He was a man who worked a lot but yet I always remember him being there for his family. He always had a smile and tremendous amount of kindness and understanding no matter what the issue was. I cannot imagine my life without him. His talks in just a few words always changed my outlook on a bad situation and then I always new it would be o.k. I remember always following him right up behind him everywhere wanting to participate in everything he did. I used to grab his leg and sing the song Stuck On You. That always made him laugh. I remember when I was a tot and he would play his records and dance with me. Then when I got bigger I stood on his feet and we danced, then a a teen and still danced. He continued to have the same dedication with my children. He would pick me up from the sitter and when we pulled in the driveway we would end up talking about the world for an hour. One of the last things he said to me was "I have to go, I'll wait for you." God bless you dad, the things you taught us, love kindness and patience will live on for generations to come. Rest in peace, I will see you soon.

With soft eye and an overly kind heart, John, my grandfather, was probably the most sweetest, most caring person I’ve grown up with. He was extremely smart, so loving and funny. We were close, he was like a second father to me and no one could ever take his place. Throughout the years that I’ve known him I don’t believe that I’ve ever heard him yell out in anger; not even once. Whenever he did yell it was was only to call out in response or entertainment and I remember all the jokes he would make, they were always so constant and there was never a dull moment with him, not ever. He always found some way to make the atmosphere uplifting even when you were in the dullest mood. Him and my grandmother would visit often, always bringing newspaper clippings with them and he would tell us little backstories about each one and made them sound much more fascinating than they already were. I don’t think someone could ever make a discovered fossil with feathers on it sound like it was an ancient lost treasure like he could. Those articles would always go on the fridge and each one holds a special memory. You couldn’t help but smile in his presence and his laugh was infectious. To see such an amazing guy go through what he did really tore me up to pieces. He's in a better place now. I love you grandpa.

For my Nephew John, I said a prayer for you today and know God must have heard; I felt the answer in my heart Although He spoke not a word. I didn't ask for wealth or fame I knew you wouldn't mind; I asked for priceless treasures rare Of a more lasting kind. I prayed that He'd be near to you Now that you've gone away; To grant you all of His blessings And His light to show your way. I asked for happiness for you In all things great and small; But that you'd know His loving care I prayed for most of all. Suzie

No greater example of humanity . Dad had a optimism that brought hope to all. A smile that was infectious, his giggle alone would have you laughing til you cried. He loved his family like no other and every member . I don't think anyone who ever met him walked away without a feeling of awe. Intelligent , insatiable sense of humor, curious, loving, supportive, and the list of qualities he possessed infinite. A joy to know, a honor to bear his name and a gift to have the loving memories I acquired over the past thirty years. He will be missed, forever loved, and never forgotten . He was angelic in life and he just got a higher rank in heavens corps of angels .

My condolences to the whole Mandinec family. John was a Chief Master Sergeant that was loved by everyone who knew him. I will miss having conversations with him over the phone. He helped the Roslyn Air National Station move from Roslyn, NY to Stewart Air National Guard Base in Newburgh. May God Bless him and his family. Ray Iberger (213th EIS '92-2007)
