The Town of Warrensburgh has lost a pillar of our community and its greatest champion for the preservation of historic architecture. Warrensburgh Beautification Inc. has lost one of its founding Board members and Treasurer of over thirty years. I have lost a mentor and good friend. At 98, Lenore Smith was still looking toward the future, wanting to restore more historic buildings and caring about the community she called home. After restoring nearly twenty historic homes and several commercial properties, Lenore thought that the Miles Thomas House was irreplaceable, and the restoration was doable if the Town took it one step at a time. The greatness of Lenore Smith was her ability to achieve so much and help so many, and yet remain humble. Her legacy will live on in the lives she has touched and the preservation of so much of our historic hamlet. Her spirit will continue to inspire us to set our sights high and reach for the stars.
