Obituary of David J. Monroe

David James Monroe, Jr., 21, a resident of the Cerebral Palsy Residential Home of Ulster County, passed away Wednesday, May 5, 2010 at the Kingston Hospital.
Born September 30, 1988, in Glens Falls, he was the son of David James Monroe, Sr. and Jennifer Fortune.
David enjoyed scary movies, music, Yankee baseball games, going out to eat, shopping at the mall, and socializing with everyone. He had a great smile and sense of humor, despite his debilitating disease.
Throughout his life, David lived with Duchene’s Muscular Dystrophy and resided at Easter Seals in New Hampshire and at Ulster County UCP in Ellenville.
In his short life, David touched so many lives and will surely be missed.
David was predeceased by a brother, Patrick M. Monroe, who passed away on April 16, 2007.
Besides his parents, he is survived by his guardians, Owen and Phyllis Monroe of Warrensburg, who had cared for him, as well as his brother, Patrick, since the age of two; sisters: Victoria Monroe, Tina Monroe, Savannah Monroe, Susan Clayton, Julie Norton, Erica Hayes; along with several aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to all the teachers, staff, and caregivers at Easter Seals and the Ulster County UPC in Kingston for their loving care and support given to David and his family over the years.
A Memorial service to celebrate his life will be conducted at 2 pm Friday, May 14 at the Alexander-Baker Funeral Home, 3809 Main St., Warrensburg, with Rev. Dawn Robbins, Pastor of the Hudson Falls United Methodist Church, officiating.
Friends may call on David’s family one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Burial will follow in the Warrensburg Cemetery.
