Obituary of Gene R. Lamb

Stony Creek: Gene R. Lamb, Sr., 76, of Glassbrook Road, passed away peacefully, Tuesday, August 11, 2009 at home of his longtime companion, Loretta Reynolds in Corinth. Born on May 22, 1933 in Ossining, he was the son of the late Winfield and Mabel (Slater) Lamb. Following his graduation from the Ossining High School, he served his country serving in the U.S. Army, stationed in Germany during the Korean War. Gene was an operating engineer for the majority of his career, and a member of the International Operating Engineers Union, Local 137. He was a 50 year member of the Ossining Volunteer Fire Department, and a lifelong member of the Briar Cliff Manor Fire Department. Gene retired and moved to Stony Creek in the mid 1970’s. As an avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and wood cutting and visiting his close friends. Besides his parents, his brothers Thomas and William Lamb have also predeceased him. He is survived by his daughter, Arlene Austin of Naples, FL; his son, G. Richard Lamb of Naples, FL; his brother, Winfield “Winnie” Lamb of Tampa, FL; his grandson, Michael Austin; and close friend, Mike Waite of Hadley; along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins. At Gene’s request, there are no calling hours scheduled. Graveside services with military honors will be conducted at 1 pm, Saturday, August 22, at the Glassbrook Cemetery in Stony Creek. In lieu of flowers, donations in Gene’s memory may be made to the Community Hospice, 179 Lawrence Street, Saratoga Springs,NY 12866.
