Obituary of Stevens McComsey

Minerva: Stevens “Horbis” McComsey, 62, of Lakeview Lane, passed away peacefully, Friday, September 16, 2016 at his daughter’s home following a brief illness. Born January 21, 1954 in West Virginia, he was the son of the late Harold and Edna (Heath) McComsey. He was a lifelong resident of the area and attended Queensbury Central School. He married Susan Twiss on November 3, 1973. He was employed as a logger and auto mechanic until disability forced him to retire in 1983. Besides spending time with his family, Horbis enjoyed hunting, fishing, hiking, and camping. Besides his parents, he is predeceased by his siblings, Annie Cleveland, Harold “Sparky” McComsey, Juanita “Dee Dee” Moffitt, and Marie Allen; his grandson, Robert Wayne Sanford, Jr. He is survived by his children, Carrie McComsey and her companion, Jason Olden of Bakers Mills, Keith McComsey and his companion, Trish Washburn of Wevertown, Steven McComsey and his companion, Joannie Storms of Minerva; his grandchildren, Dylan, Damion, and Kevin McComsey of Amsterdam, his sister, Lily Decker and her husband, Walt of Saratoga Lake, as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins. At Stevens request, there are no calling hours scheduled. A memorial service to celebrate his life will be conducted at 6 pm, Tuesday, September 20, 2016, at the Sodom Community Church, Johnsburg with Rev. Ron Allen, Pastor, officiating. Following the service, friends are invited to gather at the Boy Scout hall on Peaceful Valley Road. Please feel free to bring a dish or a memory to share.
