Obituary of Roger W. Erhardt

Lake George:
Roger W. Erhardt, 68, of Flat Rock Road, passed away peacefully Thursday, March 24, 2011 at his home with his brother, Bruce at his side.
Born September 6, 1942 in Valley Stream, he was the son of the late Edgar and Bertha (Adams) Erhardt.
After attending Lake George High School, Roger enlisted in the United States Air Force, where he worked as an airframe technician in Hawaii until his honorable discharge in 1964.
He and his brother, Brian became cable splicers with Vitelco Telephone Co. for two years in San Antonio, TX.
He moved to the Virgin Islands and continued as a cable splicer with Brian during a five year project, installing the telephone system for the entire island of St. Croix. He remained for nearly 20 years, working as an industrial painter with his brother, Brian in the Hess Oil Refinery and various construction projects until 1982. The brothers, Roger and Bruce, who lived with Roger for 10 years returned to Lake George following the passing of their father and took care of their mother for the past 26 years until her passing in 2008.
During his time in Lake George, he worked as a residential painter and was known to be one of the best in the area.
Roger was an avid outdoorsman and lived the “Adirondack Life” to the fullest.
He was also an avid NASCAR fan who followed his hero, the late great Dale Earnhardt.
He is survived by his three brothers: Brian Erhardt of St. Croix, Virgin Islands; Dale Erhardt of Lake George; Bruce Erhardt of Lake George; his aunt, Elizabeth Bryant and her husband, Richard of Sunnyvale, CA, his good friends, Renee Machon of Wevertown, Jerrold Cameron of Warrensburg; along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Friends may call on Roger’s family from 5 to 7 pm on Tuesday, March 29, 2011, at the Alexander-Baker Funeral Home, 3809 Main St., Warrensburg.
A funeral service to celebrate his life will follow the visitation at 7 pm at the funeral home with the Rev. Flossie Gage Bates, officiating.
Spring burial with military honors will be conducted 10 am, Saturday, May 21, 2011 in the Evergreen Cemetery, Lake George.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to High Peaks Hospice.
