NORTH CREEK
Herbert Alden “Bucky” Loomis, 79, passed away peacefully at his home, as was his wish on Wednesday, September 5, 2018. He was surrounded by his family, where he received devoted care and love.
Born July 12, 1939 in Brownville, he was the son of the late Herbert and Mae (Briggs) Loomis.
He married Joan (Walden) Loomis on November 28, 1959 at St James Church in North Creek. where they were blessed with three children.
Operating heavy equipment was completely thrilling and satisfying to him. He had an innate ability to run any piece of equipment and foresee the projects outcome. His end result would far surpass anyone’s landscape construction expectation.
Herb could be found at an auction at any given time, finding his next bargain. This in turn, created the next potential upcoming project.
Working in his garage with his son fixing cars, or anything, was when he was the happiest. His infamous line was, “Could you give me a hand for 10 minutes?” He was an outstanding mechanic who had an owner’s manual for repairs in his head already.
Herb was one of the strongest men you will ever meet with a very dedicated work ethic.
Thanks for all the cups of coffee and conversations to his friends at Bill’s Restaurant.
Besides his parents, he is also predeceased by his brother, Arthur Loomis; and beloved son, David Loomis.
Left to cherish his memory include his wife of 58 years, Joan Loomis, his daughter Debby (Tim) Gonyo and son Herb J (Debbie) Loomis, and half-sister Patty McDonald.
Herb was very proud of his growing family, especially his grandchildren, Jennifer (Dan) Thom, Justin (Allison) Gonyo, Janelle (Larry) Turcotte, Ashley Loomis and Cheyanne Loomis. Herb has two great grandchildren, Hannah Thom and Collin Gonyo.
Many special thanks to Dr. John Rugge for his years of care and patience.
