Obituary of Walter E. Cole

Chestertown: Walter E. Cole, Jr., 92, of Vern Tennyson Road, passed away peacefully, Saturday, October 20, 2018 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Born October 1, 1926 in Corinth, he was the son of the late Walter Sr., and Vinnie (Miner) Cole. Following his graduation from Greenfield High School, he enlisted in the United States Army and proudly served his country overseas during World War II as well as the Korean War until his honorable discharge in 1955. He married Jeanette Tennyson-Hill on September 28, 2008. Besides spending time with his family, he enjoyed setting up and attending flea markets, traveling, and fishing. Besides his parents, he is predeceased by his previous wife, Dee Cole. He is survived by his beloved wife, Jeanette Cole of Chestertown; six step-children, Sharon Wells, Dellie Howe, Delbert Hill and his wife, Mary, Gary Hill and his wife, Linda, Scott Hill and his wife, Sharon, and Jackie Monroe; as well as numerous step-grandchildren, step-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and lifelong friends William Courtney and his wife Tammy and their daughter Shelby, Frank Courtney and his wife, Janet, and Don Warner. Friends may call on Walter’s family from 5 to 7 pm, Thursday, October 25, 2018 at the Alexander Funeral Home, 3809 Main St., Warrensburg. A funeral service to celebrate his life will immediately follow the visitation at 7 pm, at the funeral home with Fr. Thomas Pettigrew, officiating. Burial with full military honors will be conducted at 11 am, Monday, October 29, 2018 at Gerald B. H. Solomon, Saratoga National Cemetery, 200 Duell Rd., Schuylerville.
