Glens Falls:
Ronald I. Wood, 66, of Center Street, passed away peacefully, Saturday, March 25, 2017 at Glens Falls Hospital following a courageous battle with tongue cancer with his loving cousins and neighbor by his side.
Born January 19, 1951 in Glens Falls, he was the son of the late Clarence and Dorothy (Norton) Wood.
Following his graduation from Warrensburg Central School in 1969, Ron furthered his education at DeVry Institute of Technology in Chicago.
He worked for R.J. Sweet Lumber Company in Warrensburg, National Cash Register and Landry Business Machines in Glens Falls for several years, and Charlie’s Vacuum where he remained for 32 years, retiring in 2015 due to his illness.
Ron was very active in his community, serving as a Cub Scout pack leader, scoutmaster with the Boy Scouts, and held positions with the Adirondack Jaycees and 4H. He took great joy in playing Santa for the Boy Scouts and Jaycees in his homemade suit made by his aunt.
He enjoyed camping with his family and friends, gardening, any type of puzzles, and looked forward to playing Dominos with his mother after their Sunday dinner.
Besides his parents, he is predeceased by his sister, Suzanne Wood.
He is survived by one aunt, numerous cousins, and special friends.
At Ron’s request, there are no calling hours or funeral services scheduled.
Ron and his mother’s earthly remains will be laid to rest in Warrensburg Cemetery at a later date.
His family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Lisa Galatti of Albany Medical Center and Dr. Darci Giaotti-Grubbs and Nikole Delair of the C.R. Wood Cancer Center at Glens Falls Hospital and the entire staff on T2 including Jamie, Debbie, Kris, Parsh, and Randy for the outstanding care he received during his illness.
