Obituary of Evelyn E. Tracy

Warrensburg – North Creek: Evelyn E. Tracy formerly of Mountain Ave. Warrensburg, and of North Creek passed away peacefully on Thursday March 1, 2007 at Adirondack Tri-County Nursing and Rehab Center in North Creek. Evelyn was born on October 10th, 1918 in North River. She was the daughter of the late Burt and Laura (Gardner) Fish. She married Kenneth Tracy on June 22, 1940 in Wevertown. During her years of marriage, Evelyn and Kenneth traveled to different states and made their home in Las Vegas, Nevada, and then moved on to St. Petersburg, Florida, eventually moving back to the Adirondacks. Evelyn was a member of the Methodist church. She was a loving and devoted wife, and mother. Her employment through the years included caring for people in their homes, as well as working in the Nursing Home in North Creek when it first opened. She was also an employee of Smiths Restaurant in North Creek in her younger years. Her interests and hobbies included cooking and knitting. Her cooking was delicious, and the sweaters, socks, and mittens that she made were warm, and very much appreciated by her family! She had a love for animals, especially cats and dogs. Besides her parents, Evelyn was predeceased by 2 sisters; Edna Springsteadah, and Hilda Davis. Also a son, Gary Tracy, and a granddaughter, Kiela Tracy. Survivors include her loving husband of 66 years, Kenneth Tracy of North Creek; his sister, Golda Tucker of Glens Falls who was a good friend to Evelyn throughout her life. She also leaves behind a sister, Edith Freebern of Greenwich; three children, and their families: daughter, Brenda Webster and her husband Wayne of Warrensburg, and their children; Cindy Rumble, David Webster, Linda Vaughan, and Jennifer Webster; son, Randy Tracy and his wife Karen of St. Mary’s, Georgia and his children, John, Thomas, and Kyle Tracy and her children, Brian and Eric children; daughter, Debby Leigh, and her companion, Fred Hayes of North River, and her children, Stacie Ross, and Greg Leigh, and a very special friend, and relative, LouAnn Beavers, several nieces, nephews and cousins. Evelyn is also leaving behind 5 great-grandchildren. Each one of these children will carry a part of their great-grandmother with them as they build their own lives. Warmth, love, and a compassion for others is the special gift that she is leaving for each of these wonderful children , as she bids farewell to this life, and begins her journey in the” House of the Lord “ A Mother is forever with you: A hand when you need it A smile when you’re sad, A lift when you’re weary, A song when you’re glad, A help when you falter, A word when you’re blue, A hope for the dreams that she has wished for you. Friends may call on Evelyn’s family from 11am-1pm Monday, March 5, at the Alexander Funeral Home, Inc, 4479 State Rt. 28, North River. Funeral services will follow the visitation 1pm Monday at the funeral home with the Rev. Ronald Allen, Pastor of the Sodom Community Church officiating. Spring burial will take place in the Chester Rural Cemetery, Chestertown.
