Bakers Mills Vera L. Washburn, 71, a long time resident of Bakers Mills, passed away peacefully, Saturday, April 21, 2007 at the Glens Falls Hospital surrounded by her loving family. Born December 9, 1935 in the town of Bolton, she was the daughter of the late Ken and Marie (Bennett) Russell. Vera was a lifelong resident of the area and worked as a cook for many years at Bill’s Diner in Warrensburg. She also spent several years as a nurse’s aid at the Adirondack Tri-County Health Care Center in North Creek before retiring. Besides her parents, her brother, Donald Russell also predeceased her. Vera leaves behind her loving husband of 54 years, Aussie Washburn of Bakers Mills; her three sons, Kenneth Sr. and his wife, Darlene of Johnsburg, Richard and his wife, Sheila of Wevertown, Robert and his wife, Mary of Bakers Mills; her daughter, Jane Brown and her husband, Jarrett of North Creek; grandsons, Kenneth Washburn Jr, Richard Washburn and Robert Brown; granddaughters, Tara and Trish Washburn and Nicole Brown; three great grandchildren, Austin, Nicholas and Adriana Washburn; her sister, Joyce Bentley of Ticonderoga; brothers, John Russell and his wife, Yvonne of Pottersville, Bernard Russell and his wife, Shirley of Bolton Landing; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Her greatest joy in life was her family and friends. She had several special friends in life, which we would like to thank for their friendship. Among the many are Paula and Cindy Nevins, Gert Remington, Bert Walker and the late Carol Combs. Services will be private and at the convenience of the family. There are no public calling hours scheduled.
