John Lapell, 85, formerly of Whitewater Manor, passed away peacefully, Saturday, December 29, 2018 at Elderwood at North Creek following a brief illness.
Born May 17, 1933 in North Creek, he was the son of the late Guy and Varian (Vanderwalker) Lapell.
He married Elizabeth Andrus in 1961 and the couple enjoyed 57 years together.
John began working for National Lead in Tahawus from a young age as a laborer until its closure. He then began working at the Copperfield Inn until his retirement.
Besides his parents, he is predeceased by three brothers, Ed, Louis, and Jim Lapell and a son, William Lapell.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Elizabeth Lapell of North Creek; a sister, Joan Clune of Queensbury; and close friend and caregiver, Lisa Lafountain of North Creek; as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
At John’s request, there are no calling hours or funeral services scheduled.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the Johnsburg EMS or the Johnsburg Volunteer Fire Company.
