Obituary of Arlene West

Minerva: Arlene West, 63, of Lake View Road, passed away peacefully, Monday, May 23, 2011 at her home surrounded by her loving family. Born September 14, 1947 in Minerva, she was the daughter of the late Beecher and Rosella (Campney) Plumley. Arlene was a lifelong resident of the area and married Earl P. West Jr. on May 27, 1964. She enjoyed crocheting, gardening, puzzles, camping, shopping and especially spending time with her family and friends. Over the years, Arlene spent time caring for elderly Minerva residences and worked 12 years at O’Sullivan’s Motel in Lake George. Besides her parents, her sisters, Merry Plumley and Rose Marie Umber, and her brothers, John and Ernest Plumley have all predeceased her. Survivors include her husband of 47 years, Earl P. West Jr. of Minerva; four children, Phillip Earl West Sr and his companion, Anne Minter of Wilmington; Randy West and his companion, Rita Harington of Ticonderoga, Tammy Wood and her husband, Brian of Olmstedville, Roxanne Stowell and her husband, Scott of Schroon Lake; 10 grandchildren, Phillip Jr, Brianna, Sasha, Sapphire, Samantha, Grant, Cassandra, Morgan, Shannon, Randy Jr; two great grandsons, Tristan and Damien; two sisters, Carol Plumley-Volpe and her husband, Michael of NC, her twin sister, Eileen Baker of Watervliet, two brothers, Don Plumley of North Creek, and Craig Plumley and his wife, Heidi of North Creek; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. A memorial service to celebrate her life will be conducted 11 am, Saturday, May 28 at the Minerva Baptist Church with the Rev. Dan O’Connor, Pastor officiating. Her family will gather at the Minerva Fire Department following the service for a time of fellowship. There are no calling hours scheduled. Arlene’s family extends a heartfelt thank you to her caregivers at High Peaks Hospice and Tammy Vanderwerker and her loving husband for the tender compassion Arlene enjoyed.
