In 1965, Frank hired me to work with him as the Conservation Department's first engineering geologist. We explored many streams, lakes and valleys together with others, and never got lost. Frank had experience in the Adirondacks, and I had lived in Alaska, so we knew how to trek the unknown. I just heard about his death a few days ago (almost a year after that sad event). Hail and farewell, old friend.

Dear Sandy, David, and the family, We're sorry for the loss of Frank. I have many good memories of conversations with Frank from the many years we've been coming to Morningside. Hayrides, ice cream, engineer talk, lake talk and more. He was a very good true gentleman. We just want to express our sympathy and let you know we care.

Your father was a man whose word and hand shake meant much more then any legal contract. As a young girl, he could stop me in my tracks with one look and I remember trying to make him smile whenever I had the chance to do so. As a young adult, I watched him and learned. Three generations of Mangold's considered him a friend, mentor and a gentle soul who we could look to for guidance and advice. You are all n our thoughts and prayers.

My heart-felt condolences to Sandy and the family at Franks passing. Although it has been many many years since Minerva was listed as my home, Frank always epitomised the qualities that made that town so unforgettable and dear. In recent years we haven't been able to get back very often but alway enjoyed talking with Frank and Sandy, staying at the Morningside cabins and visiting his refurbished sugaring establishment. It's hard to say good bye - until we meet again.

While it is with sadness that we write this note, we will always remember Frank's kind and easy ways, the joy that we had with our family during our all to brief times at Morningside and the quite peace that it brought to us. Meeting Frank & Sandy and Dave & Randy at Morningside was one of the significant factors in our deciding to build a home in Minerva. We will miss Frank and have those good memories to fall back on. Rest well Frank.
