I learned about Wright H. Scidmore through amateur astronomers after I started my telescope company, Explore Scientific and I had the pleasure of a phone conversation with him. He told me of his work with wide-field eyepieces, and I thanked him for his important influence on modern eyepiece design, and how such eyepieces revolutionized visual astronomy. I could tell that he was a kind gentleman, and I feel honored that he took the time to speak with me.
