North Creek Joseph H. Monroe, 57, Loving husband, son, father, and grandfather, a life long resident of North River and North Creek passed away unexpectedly at his home on State Route 28, North Creek, Wednesday evening, February 14, 2007. Joe is predeceased by one child, Angel and his father, Elwin Monroe Jr. He leaves behind his wife of 37 years, Marion, his daughter, Jennifer Monroe- Sienkiewycz; his son, Jason Monroe and fiancée Morgan Johnson; grandchildren, Benjamin Sienkiewycz, Adam, Elizabeth and Lucas Monroe; his mother, Elizabeth Monroe of North Creek; brother, James Monroe and his wife, Mary of Ballston Spa; sister, Judy Monroe of North Creek; brother, John and his wife, Edythe Monroe of North River. Joe is also survived by relatives, travel companions, and best friends Luke and Donna McCane of South Glens Falls. Uncle (Brother) Harry D. Monroe and his wife, Nancy of North Creek as well as aunts, uncles, cousins, several nieces and nephews. Joe was a lifetime employee of 38 years of Barton Mines Corporation. He was a member of the Barton's Fire Company during its years of activity and a member of the North River Fire Company. In his earlier years, Joe was one of the first Boy Scouts to achieve Eagle status witch taught him the values that he lived by his whole life. He was an avid hunter, outdoorsman and reliable next door kind of guy. Most recently his enjoyment in life was spending time with his children and grandchildren, the loves of his life. To relax, he most enjoyed cruising with his wife and his brother and sister in law. For personal enjoyment a golf outing with co-workers always fit the bill. He was a member of the Thursday evening Cronin's Golf league; He never missed an opportunity to complete in the yearly Asko tournament. Friends may call on Joe’s family from 6-8 pm today (Saturday) and 1-3 pm Sunday at the Alexander Funeral Home, Inc, 4479 State Rt. 28, North River. A service to celebrate his life will follow the Sunday visitation at 3 pm at the funeral home. Spring burial will take place in the North River Cemetery.
