Obituary of Elmer R. Buyce

Thurman:
Elmer Richard Buyce, 79, battling cancer, passed away peacefully Saturday, October 2, 2010 in the comfort of his home with his loving wife by his side.
Born September 21, 1931 in Troy, he was the son of the late George Henry Jr. and Eva (Morehouse) Buyce.
Elmer will be remembered as the “Poor Boy of Thurman” and “pester value” conversations.
He enjoyed his gardens and shared his bounty with many.
He worked for many years at the Glen Hudson Campgrounds and spent 30 years working for the town of Thurman. Even to his death he remembered the men he worked with and enjoyed sharing his candy bars and thoughts with them.
Elmer was part of the Thurman Baptist Church Family and enjoyed maintaining the church grounds.
He leaves behind his beloved wife of 41 years, Myrtle Buyce of Thurman, along with several cousins.
Friends may call on Elmer’s family from 10 am to 12 pm, Tuesday, October 5, 2010 at the Thurman Baptist Church, 386 South Johnsburg Road, Thurman.
A funeral service to celebrate his life follow the visitation at 12 pm with Rev. Robert Herrmann, pastor of the Thurman Baptist Church, officiating.
Elmer will be laid to rest in Warrensburg Cemetery.
Following the internment, family and friends are invited to gather at the Thurman Baptist Church for a time of fellowship and remembering.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the High Peaks Hospice or the Thurman Baptist Church.
