Obituary of Nelson L. Meader

Warrensburg: Nelson L. Meader Jr., 78, formerly of Warrensburg, passed away Tuesday morning, January 17, 2006 at the Stanton Nursing and Rehabilitation Centre in Queensbury following a long illness. Born September 18, 1927 in Cambridge, he was the son of the late Nelson Meader Sr. and Mabel (Putnam) Meader. Nelson graduated from the Warrensburg High School in 1945 and joined the US Army in November of that year. Following his honorable discharge, he continued with his education and earned degrees from Cornell University, Syracuse University and Albany Business School. He resided in Holland Patent with his special aunt, the late Jane Putnam. He also lived in Warrensburg with his Dad and in Tupper Lake with his brother’s family. He was stricken with MS in his 30’s and accepted his disability with dignity and maintained his sense of humor and positive attitude. His favorite pastimes included photography, cartology and map collecting. Besides his parents, his brothers, Frederick and Paul Meader and his nephew, Dion Meader have also predeceased him. Survivors include his sisters in law, Phyllis V. Meader of Lake George, Elaine McCausland of CA; nieces and nephews, Elizabeth Frook and her husband, Ken of VA, Greg Meader and his wife, Kelly of Queensbury, Amy Chambers and her husband, Paul of Lake George, Meg Lines and her husband, John of Queensbury, Jodi Denis and her husband, Tim of PA, Paul Meader of Glens Falls, Carrie Bush and her husband, Doug of MA, Andrew Meader and his wife, Arlette of HI, Heather and Dawn Meader both of CA; several cousins and 13 great nieces and nephews. Friends may call on Nelson’s family from 2-4 pm Friday at the Alexander-Baker Funeral Home, 3809 Main St., Warrensburg. Funeral services will follow the visitation at 4 pm Friday at the funeral home with Sister Linda Hogan of St. Cecilia’s RC Church in Warrensburg officiating. Spring burial will take place in North Gage Cemetery, Barneveld.
