Obituary of James Panos

James Panos, 83, of William Hill Road, passed away peacefully in his sleep, Friday, July 17, 2015 at his home.
Born May 4, 1932 in Pelham, NY, he was the son of the late Spiros and Arhonto (Varos) Panos.
Following his graduation from Saunders Trade School in Yonkers, he began his employment with Westchester Electric Company, presently known as Con Edison. During this time, James was drafted by the United States Army in 1953 where he proudly served his country in Fort Dix, NJ until his honorable discharge in 1955. He married Violet Louise Suplee in 1954, and together, the couple purchased their first home in West Nyack where they raised their children until her untimely passing in 1984. He worked as a trouble shooter for Con Edison for 36 years until his retirement in 1987.
Following his retirement, James relocated to his home in Chestertown.
Besides his parents and his beloved wife of 30 years, Violet, he is predeceased by his daughter, Karen Lee Panos.
He is survived by his brother, Gus Panos and two nieces, Nancy and Constance and one nephew, Charles Panos of CA; his two sons, James George Panos and his wife, Colleen and their children, Scott, Jessica, EJ, Brittany, and another soon to be grandchild of NY; John David Panos of Chestertown; his sister-in-law, Barbara DePersia of NJ; his niece, Dawn Jones of MI; his nephews, Gordon Beirshank of MO and Mark Beirshank of MS.
A celebration of James’ life will be conducted from 1 to 3 pm, Sunday, July 26, 2015 at the Minerva Firehouse, 1495 State Route 28N, Minerva.
