Mr. & Mrs. Gollhofer,
I met Rich while I too was a member of the BFD. He was man that lived his life with passion and his enthusiasm was contagious. When Rich was present everyone was happier. The world and especially Bolton and the Fire Department are much better places because of Rich. In October 2004 I came within seconds of succumbing to the very same thing that took Rick at such a young age. I to was 33 at the time. If you ever need to talk or if there is anything that I can do or any questions I can answer please do not hesitate reach out to me at anytime. Your family is in our thoughts. Our deepest sympathies.

Dear Mr. and Mrs. Gollhofer,
You don't know me, but I work in the emergency room at Glens Falls Hospital. I had to write with my sincerest sympathy, and to let you know you are all in my prayers.
It was such a shock to all of us in the ER. We see a lot of sad things that happen, but your son's death really touched us all.

Lynn, Paul and John.
We were shocked and so very sorry to hear about Ricky's sudden death. Ricky always was a special guy. I remember him as always laughing,sometimes thoughtful, but alway ready to have a good time. I cannot believe that he is gone so soon. Even though Ricky is no longer with us, he will remain in our hearts and memories forever.

You may not know me but I am a Junior Fireman with the Bolton Fire Department-I joined the department a couple of years ago when I was 16 and Rich really showed me the ropes-we had some good times and I will truly miss him-the department will never be the same- I am unable to attend the services I'm back at college now but please know that I'm thinking about all of you. Dear Paul, Lynn, John, Lorie and family and friends of Ricky,
How sad to hear to hear the news of Ricky. He was always a kind, gentle soul who would do anything for you. I will always remember him that way. I have been away from the community for some time, but I am thrilled to see how involved he was with the fire department and the town. That did not surprise me in the least. Words cannot express the sadness I feel today. It is devastating to have someone one day and have to type this the next. Your son was one of the greatest people I have ever met. Your son has been a brother to me ever since we met. Working with Rich for the past 9 years in the fire department has been a wonderful and unforgettable experience. It breaks my heart to know we will be one man short for our late night stress relieving meetings at the firehouse. Most of all I will miss nagging him until he brought out that big gentle smile. My thoughts and prayers are with your family during this hard time. If there is anything you need at anytime please do not hesitate to call. I know Rich would have been there for me as he always was. Rich I’m gonna miss you man.
