Obituary of John James Arehart

Warrensburg: John “Jack” Arehart, 77, of James Street, passed away, Thursday, October 5, 2017 at his home. Born November 15, 1939 in Corinth, he was the son of the late John and Esther (VanDenburg) Arehart. Jack was a graduate of Warrensburg Central School, Class of 1958, and attended St. Bonaventure & Pierce School of Business Administration. He served his country in the United States Air Force from 1959 to 1964. Upon his honorable discharge, Jack owned 1,000 Acres Ranch in Stony Creek, in which he operated until 2016. He married Polly Countryman on December 7, 1963. Jack enjoyed winter golf trips to Florida with his friends, flying his airplane, Wednesday lunches with his longtime friends, and watching sporting events of his children and grandchildren. Besides his parents, he is predeceased by a son, Christian Michael Arehart. He is survived by his beloved wife, Polly Arehart of Warrensburg; his children, Kelly Liddle and her husband, John, Kimberly Shephard and her husband, John, Todd Arehart, Patrick Arehart and his wife, Shelly, Hilary Watkins, Jonathan Arehart, Jeremy Arehart, and Matthew Arehart; a brother, Gary Arehart of Florida; grandchildren, Rachelle, Michael, Shawn, Meghan, Ryan, Travis, Levi, Christian, Cameron, Katherine, Quentin, Hannah, Nathaniel, and Olivia; great-grandchildren, Mason, Aiden, and Alexis; as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins, and special family members. At Jack’s request, there are no calling hours scheduled. Friends and family are invited to attend a graveside service to celebrate his life at 10 am, Monday, October 9, 2017 in Warrensburg Cemetery, with Rev. Thomas Pettigrew, Rector of The Church of the Holy Cross, officiating.
