Ona P. Dunkley, 90, of Dunkley Rd., passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, August 21, 2010, surrounded by her loving family.
Born on January 24, 1920 in Bakers Mills, she was the daughter of the late Burt and Cora (Hitchcock) Allen.
Ona married George Dunkley on July 4, 1939 in Bakers Mills, the couple shared a wonderful 58 years together before George’s passing in 1998.
Besides her beloved husband and parents, she was predeceased by her son-in-law, Earl Rist.
Ona is survived by her brother, Earl Allen of Bakers Mills; her three sons, George Dunkley, Jr. and his wife, Judy of Garnet Lake; Nathaniel Dunkley and his wife, Barb of North Creek; Seth Dunkley and his companion, Donna of Bakers Mills; daughter, Myrtle Rist of Glens Falls; eight grandchildren, Airman George Dunkley of Virginia; Bridget Dunkley of Illinois; Nathaniel Dunkley, Jr. of Johnsburg; Michael Dunkley of Warrensburg; Kim McCall of Olmstedville; Tammy O'Donnell and her husband, John of Colonie; Danae Tucker of Minerva; Donna Hier of Wevertown; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Friends may call on Ona’s family from 4-7 pm, Tuesday, August 24, 2010 at the Sodom Community Church in Johnsburg.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 am, Wednesday at the Sodom Community Church, with Rev. Ronald Allen, pastor officiating.
Burial will follow in Bates Cemetery.
