Obituary of Gordon E. Tucker

Please share a memory of Gordon to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
North Creek: Gordon E. Tucker, 73, of Mountain Estate Road, passed away Wednesday, April 30, 2014 at his home, following an extended illness. Born June 11, 1940 in Athol, he was the son of the late Ernest and Violetta (Brannon) Tucker. Gordon was a lifelong resident of the area. He served his country in the United States Navy from 1958 to 1962, then in the Naval Reserves, before his honorable discharge in June 1964, when he returned home to stay. Gordon quickly began working for Barton Mine Corp., in North River, where he was a dedicated employee for 40 years; retiring in 2002. He married Patricia May Secor on May 11, 1963. Besides spending time with his grandchildren, he enjoyed maintaining his spectacular gardens and flower beds, which his family loved, especially the tomatoes. He was an avid hunter, trapper, and fisherman, who spent countless hours roaming the Adirondack back woods. He also kept the spirit of Christmas alive all year long; it was Dad’s favorite holiday. In addition to his parents, Gordon was predeceased by seven siblings, Izabelle, Raymond, William, Silas, Donald, Harold, and Jeanne. He is survived by his beloved wife of 50 years, Patricia Tucker of North Creek; his children, Raymond E. Tucker and his wife, Kathleen, and Diane L. (Tucker) Conte and her husband, Paul; seven grandchildren, who he was very proud of; Loretta, John, Ben, Nikita, Ronald, Colleen, and Angelina. He also leaves behind his younger sister, Anne Buchebiner and her husband, Armin; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. In character with Gordon’s private nature, his wishes were to have a simple, private service with immediate family. At his request there will be no calling hours or funeral services scheduled. Gordon’s family would like to express their sincere thank you for the support from friends, and the compassion provided by Dr. Way, Dr. Junkins, Dr. Fuller, the nurses and staff at the Glens Falls Hospital Cardiac Care Unit, the Johnsburg EMS, Hospice affiliates, and Lincare; “we are greatful for your care”. The local game wardens and furry animals can now rest easy… Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations in Gordon’s memory to the Johnsburg EMS, 8 Peaceful Valley Road, North Creek, NY 12853, High Peaks Hospice, 79 Glenwood Avenue, 2nd Floor, Queensbury, NY 12804, or the Adirondack Tri-Country Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, 112 Ski Bowl Road, North Creek, NY 12853.
