Obituary of Abelina Cardoze-Pereira

WARRENSBURG: Abelina “Jo” (Romero) Cardoze-Pereira, 95 yrs old, passed away on September 14, 2024 at Fort Hudson Nursing Home from a two-year battle with dementia. 

Jo was born on August 23, 1929 in New York City, NY to the late Manuel and Anna (Miura) Romero. She was a retired supervisor with Foregger Air Products on Long Island. Jo married Joaquin “Joe” Pereira on August 17, 1996 at St. Cecilia’s Roman Catholic Church in Warrensburg.

Jo was the President of the Warrensburg 50+ club for many years, as well as volunteering her time with Warren County Board of Elections as a polling volunteer. She also enjoyed spending time and traveling with her family and friends, Jo was an avid bird watcher who also enjoyed watching classic western movies, reading, and assembling puzzles.

Jo is predeceased by her former husbands, John Cardoze and Joe Pereira.

She is survived by her children Corinne Cardoze, Karen Lindstadt and her husband, Keith, and John Cardoze; grandchildren Damian Lindstadt, Dylan and his wife Alicia Lindstadt, Amanda and Sarah Cardoze; two great-grandchildren, Skylar and Tobias; daughter-in-law Paula Wade and several nieces, nephews, extended family members, and special friends.

In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations in Jo’s memory to St. Cecilia’s Church, 3802 Main St., Warrensburg, NY 12885 or North Country Ministry, 3933 Main St., Warrensburg, NY 12885.

Friends may call on Jo’s family from 11am – 1pm, Saturday, September 21, 2024 at St. Cecilia’s Roman Catholic Church, 3802 Main Street, Warrensburg.

A memorial Mass to celebrate her life will be celebrated following visitation at 1pm, with Father Joseph Busch officiating.
