Obituary of Norman C. Benoit

Warrensburg: Norman C. Benoit, 79, of Schroon River Road, passed away unexpectedly, Tuesday, October 10, 2017 at his home with his loving wife by his side. He was born November 12, 1937 in Fort Edward and graduated from Hudson Falls Central School in 1956. Norm was drafted by the United States Army and proudly served his country as a teletype operator in Germany until his honorable discharge in December of 1962. Following his discharge, he met and married his devoted wife, Neila Dunkley and wed on April 6, 1963. Norm began working for Niagara Mohawk in June of 1963 as a tree trimmer. He worked his way up to lineman and retiring as a foreman in 1994 after 31 faithful years of service. He is survived by his beloved wife of 54 years, Neila Benoit of Warrensburg; his sons, Neal Benoit and his wife, Debbie of Colonie, Tracy Benoit and his wife, Tammy of Warrensburg, and Eric Benoit and his wife, Sandra of East Nassau; grandchildren, Tadd Benoit and his companion, Christina, Mike Benoit, Shauna Kreutziger and her husband, Jeffrey, Courtney Benoit, and Jessica Benoit; as well as his many close friends and his trusty four-legged sidekick, Shadow. Friends may call on Norm’s family from 4 to 7 pm, Friday, October 13, 2017 at the Alexander Funeral Home, 3809 Main St., Warrensburg. A funeral service to celebrate his life will be conducted at 11 am, Saturday, at the funeral home with Fr. Thomas Pettigrew, Rector of Church of the Holy Cross, officiating. Burial will follow in Warrensburg Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the American Heart Association.
