Obituary of William John Lennon
DIAMOND POINT: William (Bill) John Lennon III died on April 23, 2024, following a difficult battle with pulmonary fibrosis.
He was born on August 5, 1939, in Great Barrington, Massachusetts. Loving husband of Joan Lennon for 34 years, father of Susan Lennon, Sandi (Robert) Potter, Maura (Charles) Mellon, stepfather of Katherine (Greg) Walcott, and grandfather of Kelly Mellon, Mark Mellon, Emma Potter and Stephanie Potter. Bill is also survived by his sisters Mary Martin and Johanna (Peter) Brogan. Bill was predeceased by his father William Lennon, mother Marian Lennon, and his former wife, Katherine (Deanie) Lennon.
Bill graduated with a BS in Civil Engineering from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst and became an engineer for the New York State Department of Transportation. In the early 1970s, he and Deanie bought land in Diamond Point. After they built their own home, they developed Colonial Ridge Estates.
His true love was always antiques. He collected them all his life. After establishing the development, he was able to become a full-time antique dealer. Second only to antiques was enjoyment of landscaping his property and appreciating his view of Lake George.
In 1990, he married Joan who joined him in the business as a partner. Together, they traveled around the country doing shows and attending auctions. Winters included a time in Puerto Vallarta.
He was the sports editor of his daily college newspaper and one of the few

He lived a full life and will be missed.
