Spring internment for the late Olive E. Monthony, who passed away on March 20, 2024 in Glens Falls NY, will be conducted at 1pm, Thursday, April 25, 2024, in North River Cemetery, North River NY.
NORTH CREEK: Olive E. Monthony (95), known as “Ollie” passed peacefully on March 20, 2024 at Glen's Falls Hospital.
Born August 15, 1928 in Adirondack, to her late parents, Harry D. and Lois (Robbins) Floyd.
Ollie attended and graduated from Pottersville school and trained in Opera at the Seagle Colony in School Lake. She married the late Frederick S. Monthony on March 27, 1945.
Ollie left a legacy of an incredible work ethic. Her daily routine started with waiting tables for 2 plus hours a day at Smith’s Diner, moving on to her next job, managing the guest house for Barton Mines and finishing up her day working at the A&P. Throughout those years Ollie was an also an Auxiliary member of the North River fire department.
With a 20-year career at Tri County Nursing Home where she ran the laundry, Ollie then retired to better take care of her husband.
Her last years were spent living at the Whitewater Manor where she made many friends and will be missed by them.
She was predeceased by her parents, husband, son David Monthony and granddaughter Sheila Monthony-D'Avignon and also by her brother Harry "Bud" Floyd and Sister Ann Martindale.
She is survived by two sons Stephen (Phyllis) Monthony of Minnesota and Scott (Tammy) Monthony of North Creek. One sister Eleanor Hosmer of Hudson Falls, 6 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
At her request there will not be calling hours or services. Just a small service at her burial when weather & internment is permittable.
The family is planning to have a Celebration of Life in June of this year.
