Obituary of Philip Scodary

Chestertown: Philip Scodary, 61, of VanGuilder Rd., passed away at Albany Medical Center on October 6, 2016. Born May 27, 1955 in Brooklyn, Phil was the son of the late Vincent and Sylvia (Salmanson) Scodary. He graduated from Tottenville High School on Staten Island in 1973. Phil married Adrienne (Fraser) on June 12, 1977. The couple resided and raised their family on Staten Island before moving to the North-Country in 1986. An accomplished pianist, keyboard player and composer, Phil’s music is intricately developed, utilizing the genres of Classical, Jazz, R&B, and Rock and Roll, to create pieces of sweeping magnitude and vast depth. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his of wife 31 years, Adrienne, and his sister, Marion Gundersen. Survivors include Phil’s companion, Deborah Mastromatteo of Chestertown; his two children, James P. Scodary of Albany and Christina F. Scodary of Stockbridge, MA and her partner James Guynup Jr.; his uncle, Daniel Scodary and his wife Pat, of St. Charles, MO, and many additional extended family members. Friends may call on Phil’s family from 3-8 pm, Sunday, Oct. 9 at the Alexander Funeral Home, 3809 Main Street, Warrensburg. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 am Monday at St. James RC Church, Main St., North Creek with Fr. John O’Kane, Pastor officiating. The Rite of committal will follow in St. James Cemetery, North Creek.
