Obituary of Catherine E. Needham

WARRENSBURG: Catherine E. Needham (Bartlett), aged 70, of Warrensburg, NY, passed away peacefully at Glens Falls Hospital on January 26, 2024 after a lengthy illness.

Cathy came into this world on September 12, 1953, in Syracuse, NY, as the cherished daughter of the late Andrew and Wilhelmina (Pierce) Bartlett. Over the course of her life, Cathy engaged in various occupations, including working in numerous motels across the region, providing babysitting services for numerous families, and contributing her talents to American Chemo Plastics and Warrensburg Laundromat. Yet, among her varied roles, Cathy found unparalleled joy in her most beloved job of all – being a devoted and cherished mom.

During her youth, Cathy found pleasure in camping and fishing. As the years progressed, her interests evolved, and she took delight in savoring her coffee, engaging with her phone, solving word searches, and generously sharing her spirited personality with her family.

Cathy is predeceased by her sister Carol Hall, brother Andrew Bartlett and grandson Bryan Brown.

Those left to cherish the memory of Cathy include her daughters Melinda (Marshall Lamphier) Monroe of Stony Creek, Melissa (Steven Baker) Smith, Mickey (Fred Weidman) Moon of Warrensburg, Bridget (David Casey) Smith of South Glens Falls; along with her grandchildren Roger, Angel, Rodney, Elizabeth, Lance, Richard, Alan, Lilly, and Xavier. Cathy is also survived by her brother Rick Bartlett of Warrensburg, sisters Joan (Bruce) Hathway of Stony Creek, Cindy (James) Mahler of Warrensburg, Gloria (Bill) Farrell of Warrensburg, Laurie (Dan South) Viele of Warrensburg, and Patty (Jerry Perry) Bartlett of Warrensburg, as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Their collective love and memories will forever honor Cathy's legacy.

Cathy's family wishes to express heartfelt gratitude and appreciation to the dedicated staff at Glens Falls Hospital Cancer Center and Tower 3, the Homeward Bound Program, and the Landmark for their exceptional kindness and compassion in providing care for Cathy.

Friends may call on Cathy’s family from 2pm – 4pm on Thursday, February 1, 2024 at Alexander Funeral Home, 3809 Main St., Warrensburg, NY. A memorial service will take place at 4pm following visitation.

Burial will take place in Warrensburg Cemetery this spring.
