Obituary of Harry M. Alger
Thurman:
Harry M. Alger, 82, of Bowen Hill Road, passed away peacefully into the arms of the lord on Wednesday, November 29, 2023 at his home.
Born July 12, 1941 in Glens Falls, he was the son of the late Clifford and Dorothy (Hunt) Alger.
He was a lifelong resident of the area and attended Warrensburg Central School.
Harry loved the Adirondacks and was an avid hunter, logger, and gardener. He never sat idle and was always cooking, canning, making maple syrup. You name it, he’s made it. He could always be found lending a helping hand to his friends and neighbors and he even delivered for Meals on Wheels for several years. Above all, he loved spending time with his family and being the ultimate grandpa. He was a wealth of knowledge about hunting, camping and always had the best stories to share.
He was a very devoted Christian and always anticipated his journey to heaven.
Besides his parents, he is predeceased by his wife, Nancy (Graves) Alger; a son, David Alger; daughter, Donna Hayes; brothers, Kenneth, and James Alger; and sisters, Clara Marks and Edna LaBarge.
He is survived his wife, Cindy Alger of Thurman; his children, Denise Hall, Dawn LaBarge and her husband, Joe, Shelia Pierce and her husband, Wes, Denise Hill, Alexis Bunzey and her companion, Monty Fish, Donald Cheney and his wife, Bonnie, and Richard Alger; step-children, Douglas Crandall and Hope Crandall; He is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Friends may call on Harry’s family from 2 to 4 pm, Tuesday, December 5, 2023 at the Alexander Funeral Home, 3809 Main St., Warrensburg.
A memorial service to celebrate his life will immediately follow the visitation at 4 pm, at the funeral home.
