Obituary of Emma E. Nelson
SOUTH GLENS FALLS: Emma E. Nelson, 27 of South Glens Falls, formerly of Warrensburg, passed away Friday, November 17, 2023 at Glens Falls hospital following a brief illness.
Born in Glens Falls on May 16, 1996 to Robert A. Nelson and Jacqueline (Straight) Nelson. She graduated from Warrensburg Central School in 2015. She was a valued and dedicated employee of NYS OPWDD, lovingly caring for the residents at many facilities. Emma loved life, her friends and her family. She lived for her son, Lucas Hughes who she loved with every ounce of her being.
Anyone who knew Emma knew she could always find a way to put a smile on your face and make you laugh. That being said, Emma’s laugh is something no one will forget and it truly was a window into her soul. She was beautiful, tough, outgoing, caring and just overall special. She was an incredible mother, sister, daughter, granddaughter, cousin, niece and friend to so many. She loved to live and always said “here for a good time, not a long time.” She got the most out of life even though she was never dealt the easiest hand of cards. She was the flower that grew through the concrete against all odds. Heaven gained another angel but we aren’t sure they are prepared for how special this one is.
“My baby girl, Emma was such a free spirit. She could frustrate me so much, maybe because she reminded me of myself at that age. She made my heart so happy just seeing her smile. A piece of my heart went away with her, but she will always live on in my heart. Love you baby girl, Mom.”
Waiting for her with open arms in heaven are her maternal grandparents Jim and Patricia Straight, and bonus grandfather Rick DeMarsh.
Left to cherish her memory are her son Lucas Hughes, parents Rob (Amy), Jackie (Dan), siblings Tyson (Caty) Nelson, Ashley (Kyle) Bennett, Austin (Isabella) DeMarsh, Lucas (Michaela) Nelson, Daalten DeMarsh and Courtney Allen, grandparents Janet Ure and Gail DeMarsh, nephews Rayden Clark, Jaxyn and Jadyn Bennett, Brantley Nelson, nieces Melinda Needham-Nelson, Maddison Nelson and Magnolia DeMarsh, several aunts and uncles, favorite aunt, Denise Ure together with numerous cousins. Emma was outgoing with a contagious smile and personality who made friends where ever she went, Karlee, Rachael and Dee were special friends.
