Please share a memory of John to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

John Franklin Hayes, January 10, 1945 - October 29, 2023

Born John F. Hayes to Jesse and Elizabeth (Cleveland) Hayes on January 10, 1945 in Newburgh, NY, John passed away peacefully at Glens Falls hospital on Sunday, October 29th while holding his beautiful wife Sharon's hand.

John loved his life growing up on Barton Mines Road in North River with all of his siblings and extended family. John graduated from Johnsburg Central School class of 1963 where he enjoyed playing baseball and basketball. He then went on to enlist in the United States Air Force where he served in Vietnam. Once he returned, he married his Sweet Pea Sharon (Hitchcock) Hayes on September 24, 1966 and was happily married for 57 years.

After completing his service in the Air Force, John worked for General Electric in Schenectady for 29 years. John loved the great outdoors, hunting, fishing, ice fishing, golfing and was also in many bowling leagues. His favorite place was his family's camp on Barton Mines Road, "Lonesome Dove Outfitters" where he shared so many memories with family and hunting friends. Oh the stories that could be told by the camp table and the campfire! John loved sharing all his hunting and fishing tips with anyone who would listen, especially his grandkids and nephews.

In addition to his parents, John was predeceased by two brothers, Joseph R. and Edward J. Hayes, sister Jeanne M. Kellogg and daughter Stacey J. (Hayes) Lee.

John is survived by his wife Sharon (Hitchcock) Hayes, daughter Julie J. Bresonis (Patrick), siblings Fred Hayes, J. Thomas Hayes (Cathy), Janette Biggs (Scott) and Richard Hayes (Sandy), grandchildren Brittany, Alysa, Brianda, Lyndsey, Matthew, Ryan, Sophia and Emilia, great grandchildren Myla and Wesley and many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and dear friends.

We were all so blessed to have such a wonderful man in our lives. He will truly be missed by all. A memorial service with full military honors will be held at the Gerald B.H. Solomon National Cemetery in Schuylerville, NY on Friday, November 10th at 9am, anyone welcome (please arrive at 8:45am). A celebration of life for extended family and friends will take place at the North Creek Ski Bowl at a date to be determined in the Spring.
