CHESTERTOWN: It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of James “Jim” Francis Richardson, age 76, of Chestertown, NY. On October 17th, 2023, he peacefully departed from this world at his home with his loving daughter by his side. He leaves behind a legacy of love and wonderful memories, having been a beloved father, uncle, brother, grandfather and great-grandfather.

Jim’s journey began on September 8th, 1947, when he was born in Brooklyn, NY to the late William and Mary (Binger) Richardson. James grew up in Massapequa, NY. He spent his adult years working as a painter, then joined the Teamsters Union and worked in numerous positions with them until he retired. In 2009, he moved to Chestertown, NY, to take care of his mother in the family home which was built in 1969. Jim loved the mountains of the north country.

Jim was a man who lived his life to the fullest. He was a gentle soul with a big heart. He loved his food and his scratch offs. He had a magnetic personality and his compassion extended to all animals. He was known to keep the wildlife around his home well fed. He will forever be remembered for his infectious sense of humor, leaving an irreplaceable void in the hearts of his loved ones.

Along with his parents, Jim is predeceased by his brother, Billy Richardson. Left to cherish Jim’s memory are his daughter, Doreen, his granddaughter, Christie, great-grandson, Teddy, and his brother, Tom, sister-in-law, Karen, niece, Donielle, and nephew, Brian.

For those who wish to honor Jim’s memory, donations can be made in his name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.  Contributions can be sent to 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105, or made online at www.stjude.org.
