Obituary of Lisa Ann Thompson

Please share a memory of Lisa to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Lisa Ann Thompson, 60 years old, passed away on Tuesday September 12, 2023 at home in Warrensburg, NY, with her daughter and son-in-law by her side.

Lisa was born June 12, 1963 and raised in Laurence Harbor, NJ, where she later raised a family of her own.

Over the years she obtained her cosmetology and realtor license, owned and operated a home daycare as well as a contracting company. She was always there for every Boy/Girl Scout event, baseball game and was never too busy to play basketball with her children, or to feed the neighborhood kids, all which she treated like her own.  She dedicated her life to those she loved and to helping those in need.

She loved gardening, camping, hiking, crafting, thrifting, dancing and spending time with her family.  She had an incredible love for all animals, including her “adopted” furry babies Sampson and Pricilla. A highlight of her recent times was seeing who, out of her and her brother Billy, could give the middle finger to each other first when seeing one another in the mornings. If you knew Lisa you would understand and laugh.  Her personality and humor was unlike any other, in the best way imaginable.

It has been said by many she was the strongest woman they have ever met.  Her love, strength, determination and courage will always be admired and never forgotten.  Along with her humor, spunk and sarcasm.  She was a selfless, kind hearted person who was just as beautiful inside as on the outside.

Preceded in death by her husband Robert (Bob) Thompson and her son Robert (Bobby) Thompson.  Also patiently waiting for her were her furry babies Ecko, Scrappy and Shadow.

She is survived by her daughter and best friend Christina Thompson, her parents William and Rosemarie Tanko, brother William (Billy) Tanko, sister Kathleen (Kathy) Jessen and brother Tyrone Tanko.  Lisa also leaves behind her nieces and nephews; Falon, Anthony, Megan, Billy and Tabby.  Last but not least, she left behind her furry babies Willow, Tundra, Kimba, Belle and Mona (those closest know her special nickname for them).

A memorial service will be held at the Trinity Methodist Church in South Amboy, NJ on Saturday, October 28th at 3:00pm. All are welcome to share in this special day dedicated to the memory of our beautiful Lisa, who has touched so many lives in countless ways.
