Johnsburg:

James J. Bateman, 60, of Cleveland Road, passed away peacefully in his home, Thursday, July 13, 2023 following a brief illness.

He was a lifelong resident of Johnsburg. Jim was a devoted father and grandfather. He loved going out to dinner and shopping with “his girls, “as well as spending quiet time with family. He was a zealous hunter and target shooter who had a passion for weapon collecting and the outdoors.

Jim retired from Barton’s Mines a couple of years ago following over 33 years of loyal service.

Jim will be forever and lovingly remembered by his two daughters: Jessie & husband Gil, and Ashley & her partner, Austin; five Grandchildren; Morgan Woodard, Shawn & Mackenzie Mulligan, and Logan & Zoey Townsend; as well as a great grandson, Grayson Mulligan; three Brothers; David & wife Lisa Bateman, Butch & wife, Jean Bateman, and Joey Bateman; five Sisters; Barbara & husband Marvin (Pinkie) O’Dell, Coral & husband, Bruce Bardin, Helen & husband, Kenny Murphy, Peggy LaRock And Cathy Fredella; as well as many nieces , nephews, and friends.

Jim was predeceased by his mother, Jean Richards Bateman, and father, Clarence (Bud) Bateman.

Jim was a staunch and loyal friend to those who earned his respect and will be missed by all who knew him.

Per Jim’s request, there are no calling hours or funeral services scheduled.

A memorial service to celebrate his life will be conducted privately at the convenience of his family.
