To Larry's Family: Larry and I had a business relationship that lasted over 7 years and over 46 printings of his books. It was a pleasure getting to know him over all the years. He was always so pleasant and uplifting to speak with. I was glad I was able to speak to him last month and let him know how we felt. It was also great that his books will be continued to be printed onward for all to appreciate.
He will be missed. Condolences from all of us at Lightning Press.

Larry and I knew one another for over twenty-five years. As the years advanced our relationship became closer. We were in constant contact. Anytime my wife, Dottie, or I had a problem, computer or otherwise we'd call Larry for help.
He was blessed with a sharp mind and wit combined with natural humorous mannerism. The three of us dined out occasionally and joked about who should pay the bill. During my wife's convalescence until her passing, Larry frequently stopped by to see Dottie and assist with her needs. His help and caring manner was always appreciated.
There were times we would talk on the telephone to each other for over an hour discussing politics, financial matters etc. until Dottie would yell out to get off the phone so she could use it. He seldom wanted credit for his achievements. Nevertheless, these accomplishments should not be overlooked such as his overseeing the construction of the Warren County Correctional Facility, completed in 2004 during his tenure as Warren County Sheriff.
His passing was ill-timed and undeserved. He will be missed. God bless you, Larry.

Larry was a friend from school. He delivered Post Star newspapers to my house growing up. He always came in and had a cookie, and chased the kids around the kitchen table. What a card. He was like a brother to me. Also I worked in the Treasurer's Office at Warren County for many years. Larry always stood up for the people there. My sister Susanne worked for Larry and Fred in Sheriff's many years also. He was good to everyone there. I'm so sad to have lost him. RIP Larry.

I met Larry when I returned home from serving overseas and attended ACC. That was 1972. I knew and remained friends with Larry for over forty years of my law enforcement career. My wife was an employee of the Warren County Sheriff's Department and worked in the same office with Larry. Sometimes he would turn off the police scanner without warning. He was protecting Sue from worrying about listening to a dangerous call I was on. People thought they knew all about Larry but they didn't know a side I saw. My wife was hospitalized and went through major surgery. Larry allowed me to visit her every day I worked, at noon. I sometimes visited on my way to work. One Saturday morning, at six a.m. I found Larry sitting with Sue, not taking any visitation time from our family, and reassuring her that she was going to be well and back to work. He also told her to take her time healing. Her job was safe and secure. It is an unwritten rule that we don't tell such tales to anyone else or outsiders, but, should be told to you, his family. Please accept our condolences.

I was so very shocked and saddened to learn of Larry's death. Larry was dedicated to a quality safe community. As a member of the local Democratic party, Larry worked hard for candidates who respected justice and commitment to community. He coupled political realism with a refreshing pragmatism and helped in numerous ways, always quietly never seeking the spotlight. His friendly manner and superior organizational protocols were his trademarks. My deepest sympathies are extended to his family and colleagues. I shall miss Larry and I thank him for his service and friendship. May he rest in peace.
Sincerely,
Lynne Boecher

I first met Larry Cleveland when the Warren County Sheriff’s Office took over the Lake George PD. Everything about his police administration was exemplary. He ensured everything was standardized, from the socks one wore as a deputy to the handling of calls.
Sheriff Lamy and Larry Cleveland gave me the opportunity to become a full-time police officer. I will never forget Larry’s support, knowledge and insight into policing. As a police administrator, he was second to none. He would do anything to help anyone out.
Larry’s support allowed me to flourish in policing, rising to become the Commanding Officer for Major Investigations - Statewide, at the Attorney General’s Office.
Thank you for everything you did for me
Rest in Peace Larry.

My deepest sympathy to the family of Larry Cleveland...
We all know that Larry dedicated his chosen career to the safety & well-being of others. As Sheriff, he was a proven administrator~ one who knew and understood gov't policies, practices and protocols. But perhaps most important was his passion for sharing his knowledge in the classroom. I cannot imagine the impact that Larry has had on the next generation in law enforcement. At this sad time, I will remember Larry as a colleague, mentor, and friend. Please now rest in peace.

Larry was arguably one of the best instructors I ever had. He made classes at HVCC worth going to. I enjoyed getting to know him, he was always quick to make a joke. I will miss him dearly. On behalf of all of us at MJ Kelly Funeral Home, our sincere condolences to the family. God be with you.

Sending healing prayers and comfort to all of Larry’s family and friends during this tough time. I had the honor of meeting Larry at HVCC, where he was one of my Mortuary Science professors. He was truly a remarkable man, who helped shape the lives of so many.
I’m so grateful I got the chance to know him as both a colleague and a friend. The world is a little darker today from the loss of his light.

Larry was my Mortuary Law professor. His personality made him a big figure for many classes of funeral directors. He molded many minds, and on behalf of several acting FDs and those who have moved on from the professions - we send our condolences to the family of a great man who did more than he needed to, and made sure we had a dose of reality before entering the real world. One of the best educators I jave ever had the fortune to encounter. Your HVCC students carry you in our hearts.

Larry was instrumental in my choosing a career in law enforcement. His always upbeat demeanor allowed me to see the good side in situations in what is often times a difficult and stressful profession. I will always be grateful for the lessons I learned from him, including the gun safety instruction in which he shot himself in the foot. We shared many laughs together and his sense of humor and storytelling will be greatly missed. Rest in peace brother.

My brothers and I met Larry many years ago. We have a produce company in Albany and delivered to
Warrensburg Fruit Co. Larry was working for the owner Frank and helped unload the truck. Later on
Larry became co-owner of the business. He would go on into law enforcement and serve his community.
God bless.

Larry and the Lamy family shared a unique bond. Larry chaperoned our sons senior trip. Helped Florence LaPoint with her dance school where our twins girls learned to dance. Larry and I worked together for years at the Sheriffs Department. When I became Sheriff, Larry was very instrumental in the progress we made in modernizing the department. As time pasted Larry rose through the ranks and became Undersheriff. His heart and soul was on full display 24 seven as a police executive and mentoring our young officers. When I retired and Larry became Sheriff he lead the Department through one of the biggest county projects, the building of a new public safety building and county jail, which still functions today in his image which has saved the taxpayers thousands of dollars. Larry understood police executive management and always got things done. We who knew him and worked with him are better people then if we had not known him. His legacy and friendship will not be forgotten. Our sincere condolences to his family and friends. Very fondly, Fred and Rose Lamy
