It is with great sadness that I send my sincere sympathy to the Slayback family. I had the privilege to be Jon’s friend from the mid 60’s until he left the Lavallette area. We worked together on the beach and had a great group of friends. Know that Jon was the glue that kept us together. Everyone was grateful to have Jon as a friend. His sense of humor, loyalty and caring for others made him special. May God bless you all during this difficult time.

My beautiful Father Jon who transitioned to the other side the morning of September 21, to be with God, Elizabeth, Roger, Claudia and Bob and even Barry who will all be welcoming him for sure. He was a beautiful man, excellent father, and there is so much of him in me that I am proud of. In his eyes there was nothing I could not do, he taught me to be a strong athlete, to love nature and mysticism, to build and to discover, and how to save a life. He had a fierce vinyl and antiques collection, taught me how to drive manual on ice on snow days, he loved to joke and play tricks, go on adventures, ski super fast down the mountain, and he was a Mason. I am so lucky to have many beautiful and giving father figures in my life, Jon was not my father by blood, but I was his, and so were the sentiments of the lucky who called him Dad, Pops, Uncle Jon, Grandpa Slayback, husband and friend. The lights that went out in church tonight during our blessing for you, and the second 6.8 earthquake that rumbled us awake at 1am in Mexico City, let me know you´re there and you see me. You know I love you and we had those last amazing conversations recently, which were such a gift. Other than that I’m heartbroken and lost for more words. All my love and condolences to our extended family and friends anyone who loved and is now missing Jon. Love Always, Goose
