Obituary of Robert E. Waters

Bakers Mills: Robert E. Waters, 69, of State Route 8, passed away peacefully, Sunday, October 11, 2015 at his home, surrounded by his family. Born August 21, 1946 in Glens Falls, he was the son of Norma (Bradway) Hitchcock, Bakers Mills, and the late Edwin Waters. In his formative years, Robert had a garbage route; this may have sparked his interest in “junking” and bottle collecting. He also enjoyed gambling, hunting, western movies, and collecting cowboy attire. He was a logger for Blackburn Logging out of Fort Ann for many years, before working on a farm in the area as well. In addition to his father, Robert was predeceased by his brother, Leonard Waters, a sister Rose Swinton. Besides his mother, Norma, he is survived by his children, Robert “BJ” Waters, Jr., Stephen Waters, both of South Glens Falls; two grandchildren; his siblings, Kathy Waters of Porters Corners, Susan Guilder and her husband, Ronald, of Hudson Falls, Bonnie Russell and her husband, Ted, of Northville, Shirley Thompson and her husband, Michael, of Glens Falls, Jacob Waters and his wife, Connie, of Hudson Falls, Edwin Waters of Warrensburg. He also leaves behind several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Friends may call on Robert’s family from 1 to 2 pm, Friday, October 16, 2015, at Alexander Funeral Home, 3809 Main St., Warrensburg. A memorial service will immediately follow the visitation at 2 pm, Friday, at the funeral home, with Rev. Nelson Koonce, pastor of the Mountain view Community Church in Bakers Mills.
