Andrew “Andy” Klemow June 30, 1945 – January 12, 2022 NEWCOMB - Andrew “Andy” Gregory Klemow of Newcomb, NY, died peacefully on Thursday, January 13, 2022 at the age of 76. Following a long and hard-fought battle with cancer, Andy, passed after a short stay at Elderwood of Uihlein at Lake Placid. He was born on June 30, 1945, to Andrew and Olga (Lachick) Klemow of Brooklyn, NY where he lived with his parents and two sisters. After graduation from George Westinghouse Vocational and technical High School in 1963, Andy served in the United States Navy until 1966 when he was honorably discharged. He then attended the New York State Institute of Technology where he earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Electronics. Andy worked as an Electrician until he joined the New York City Police Department in 1970 where he served for 12 years. After retiring from the NYPD in 1982, he moved to the Adirondack Park and settled in Newcomb where he lived out the remainder of his life. Andy enjoyed hunting and fishing as a member of the Gooley Club in Newcomb. He was an avid downhill skier and spent most of his winters on the slopes of Gore Mountain. Andy also enjoyed scuba diving and making several annual trips to the Cayman Islands to pursue that passion. A public servant for most of his life, Andy also held memberships with the Newcomb Volunteer Fire Department and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. A graveside service with full military honors will be conducted at 11am, Saturday, May 7, 2022 at St. Therese Cemetery in Newcomb. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Andy can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Please visit alexanderfh.net for online guestbook and condolences.
