Bob was born on June 25, 1956 at Abington Memorial Hospital in Pennsylvania to Robert and Grace Herrmann. Bob grew up in Oakford, PA and graduated from Baptist Bible College in Clarks Summit, PA with a Bachelors in Pastoral Studies (1979) and a Bachelors in Secondary Education (1981).He married Donna Metzger in 1981 and together they taught in Christian schools and served in churches in Indiana, New Jersey, and New York. While teaching, Bob enjoyed coaching softball, baseball, soccer, and wrestling. Bob also served as the Pastor of Horicon Baptist Church in Brant Lake, NY from 1986-1989 and then as the Pastor of Thurman Baptist Church in Thurman, NY for the next 22 years. In the community, Bob led the Thurman Youth Soccer Program, served on the Brant Lake and Thurman EMT squads for several years, and umpired High School baseball. He thoroughly enjoyed his years coaching Warrensburg Little League. Bob was an exceptional, loving parent to his own children as well as many foster children over the years who held a special place in his heart. Bob enjoyed not only the preaching aspect of being a pastor, but also shepherding, loving, and caring for his congregation, family, and friends. He preached with excitement and enthusiasm. As he was coping with the trials of cancer, he often said these words, “The Lord is good, no matter what He does.” It was his hope that when the Lord took him home, his testimony and love for God would encourage others to turn their thoughts and lives to Christ.
