Bob was like another father to me. I spend a lot of time growing up at the Shepler home and he always made me feel like part of the family. He was a great cook; I can still taste his marinated chicken (my favorite). He always had some corny (but funny) joke to share. He wanted everyone around him to be happy and did a great job at it. I have a lot of great memories of him and will cherish them forever.
My family and I extend our deepest condolences to the Shepler family. You are in our thoughts and prayers.

We never know in this life the impact we can have on others. Often it is the smallest act, done with great care and humility that resounds across lifetimes, likely unknown by the giver. Rob lent more than a hand to my father, Robert Price on the day that his dog Zak, his best friend died. My father was inconsolable, and couldn't muster the strength to bury Zak. I was returning from classes in NYC to find a note on my car window at the Croton-Harmon train station "Zak died...please come right home". Arriving I found my Dad, with Rob who dug the grave for him and helped him place Zak in his final resting place. It was such a service, given from the heart, for him to do that for my Dad, and for his beloved dog. It was such a poignant scene, the memory of it has remained with me now for 31 years. I like to think that the three of them are on the other side, happy and free! To Rob's family and friends, my deepest condolences. I share your sorrow, and send you love. Most sincerely, Amy Price

Knowing Bob as a friend and neighbor you couldn't help but realize that he cared about you. He was a giver in a world of takers. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family who in their grief can know that Bob made this world a better place. ------ Ellen and Joe Bencivenga.

A more dedicated Father, Grandfather or Husband would be hard to find. Our friend, Bob, whom we have known for only a short part of his life, was a compassionate, pleasant man to share company with! His love of friends and family was always first and foremost to all who knew him! Our small mountain community Of Thurman, NY, where Bob made a choice to retire, has been enriched time and again by his volunteerism, His dedication to youth sports via coaching and the unselfish time spent giving funds, advice and leadership to the Thurman Youth will forever be remembered. This world, this county and this community has been forever changed for the better because of Mr. Robert Shepler. I thank you for your presence in our lives and for all you have meant to our Community. As you take your place at the table of the Lord, May you look upon those whom you loved most and forever guide them through a life containing wonderful memories of your presence! Thank you, Bob. Rest In Peace, free of pain, worry and stress, you will be forever missed and never forgotten! I pray for the Shepler family that they may continue their lives with greatness and happiness in loving memory of their “POP”. Love From Rose and Dave Slemp
