OLMSTEDVILLE
Eleanor B. Palmer, 90, of Olmstedville, passed away Friday evening August 18, 2006 at Stanton Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Queensbury.
Born January 10 1916, in Olmstedville, she was the daughter of Freeman and Emma (Warrington) Hammond.
She was predeceased by her husband, Russell Palmer in 1989, after 51 years of marriage. She was also predeceased by three brothers, Earl, Leland and Harold, two sisters, Gladys and Gertrude, a granddaughter, Marie DeRiso and a son-in-law, LeRoy DeRiso.
From the confines of this earth our beloved mother has passed. This quiet woman you may not have known. She didn’t go to college, she didn’t have a career, although she could have chosen that kind of life had she wanted. Like so many women of her generation she instead choose to raise her children and to devote her life to them.
Ten children were lucky enough to be born to this wonderful woman. The most influential person in the lives of the children in which she surrounded herself. Lessons offered and lessons learned. Do not lie, do not steal, and do not judge the lives of others. Most importantly hold close your children and life will pass eternal from one small hand to the other.
Survivors include all ten of her children: Roy and Pam Palmer, Cathy and Malcolm Persons, Paul and Terri Palmer, Chet and Diane Palmer and Dan and Deb Palmer, all of Olmstedville, Mary DeRiso of Connecticut, Anna Palmer and Joyce and Sam McCall of South Glens Falls, John and Rita Palmer of Schroon Lake and Linda and Bill Shanley of Hudson Falls. She is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Friends may call on Monday, August 21, from 6 until 8 p.m. at the Alexander Funeral Home 4479 State Route 28, North River. A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00am Tuesday, August 22, at the Minerva Baptist Church with the Rev. Trudy Pettibone officiating. Burial will follow at Federal Flats Cemetery, Olmstedville.
Family and friends would like to extend their appreciation to the staff of the Stanton Nursing and Rehabilitation Center and a special thanks to the staff members of the East Wing for their loving care and devotion to our Mother.
The family suggests in lieu of flowers donations to any Children’s Charities of your choice. Mark 10:14 Suffer the little children to come unto me and forbid them not, for of such is the kingdom of God.
