Obituary of Carmela Pasqualicchio

Stony Creek and Brooklyn: Carmela Areostatico Pasqualicchio, of Stony Creek and Brooklyn Heights, died peacefully in her home on June 21, 2010. She was 104. Grandma, as she was affectionately known, was a master seamstress and the nucleus of a loving extended family. She always had a kind word and a smile to share with all who knew her. After visiting Saratoga Springs on her honeymoon, she and her husband bought a farmhouse in Stony Creek. It was there that she spent over 80 summers with her family and friends. Born on December 8, 1905 in Taranto, Italy, Mrs. Pasqualicchio was the daughter of Paolina Casavola and Cataldo Areostatico; the wife of Paul Pasqualicchio; the mother of Isabelle Bruschi, Corinne Downing, Paul Vincent; the sister of Teresa Barisciano, Nicholas and George Areostatico, Anne Centrone; the grandmother of Valerie Graffanino, Damian Bruschi, Anne Galullo, Delia Crocco, John and Peter Vincent, Gina Prine, Carla Kord, Claudia Downing Stevens, Paula Oldham; great grandmother of Bianca and Liana Graffanino, Nathan and Dylan Bruschi, Kevin and Christopher Duffy, Mia, Spencer, and Marcus Prine, Benjamin Kord, Isabella Galullo, Connor and Liam Stevens. She is also survived by loving nieces and nephews: Paula, Dino, Dickie, June, Bobby, Francis, Roland, Paula Claire, and Rae. A celebration of life service with family and friends for Mrs. Pasqualicchio was held on Saturday, July 10, at St. Cecilia’s Roman Catholic Church in Warrensburg. Knowelhurst Cemetery in Stony Creek is Grandma's final resting place.
