Obituary of John F. O'Neill

LAKE GEORGE: John F. O’Neill, 63, son of Francis & Josephine, passed away, Tuesday, August 29, 2006 at the Glens Falls Hospital after a long & courageous battle with cancer. Born in New York City on November 15, 1942, he attended Manhattan College with a scholarship in engineering. He was married in 1960 & settled in the Adirondacks. He worked for the NYC Telephone Company and then in carpentry and construction upstate. He served as a volunteer fireman for the Town of Lake George. His experiences led him to a career as a Building & Fire Code Inspector for Warren County, NY. He is survived by his sons; Anthony O’Neill of Wilton, Christopher O’Neill of Ridgefield Park, NJ, and daughter, Lisa O’Neill of Norfolk, VA; brother, James O’Neill and family of Portland, OR; & cousin, Joan Greaney of Riverdale, NY. A big tree has fallen, we will all miss him dearly. All are invited to attend his funeral service which will be held at 2:00 pm, Saturday, September 2nd, at the Alexander-Baker Funeral Home, 3809 Main St., Warrensburg. Fr. Steven Moore, Pastor of St. John the Baptist Church in Chestertown will officiate. Friends may call on John’s family one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow in the Chester Rural Cemetery, Chestertown. Donations in lieu of flowers may be made to the Charles R. Wood Cancer Center at the Glens Falls Hospital, The High Peaks Hospice of Glens Falls or the Lake George Volunteer Fire Department.
