Obituary of Lee Taber

Warrensburg/Tequesta, FL: Lee Taber, 86, formerly of Library Ave., passed away Monday, October 13, 2014, at the Hospice of Palm Beach County, in Jupiter following a long illness. Born Leo Taboleski on March 6, 1928 in Amsterdam, he was the son of the late John S. and Natalie (Ackstulewicz) Taboleski. Lee was a Master Sergeant and career Air Force Veteran, who enlisted at the tail end of WWII, and honorably served his country, after completing two tours of duty in Korea. Lee married Dorothy C. Kowalski on October 24, 1948 in Amsterdam. The couple resided in Warrensburg and were both employed by the Lake George Steamboat Company, where Lee was a long time Captain on the Lac Du Saint Sacrament. In addition to his parents, and beloved wife of 55 years, Dottie, Lee was predeceased by his sisters, Helen Sorel, Mary Taboleski, and Catherine Weakley, and his brothers, Barney, Steve, and Robert Taboleski. He is survived by his son, Gregory L. Taber and his wife, Kathleen G. Taber of Tequesta, FL; three grandchildren, G. Maxwell, Caroline, and L. William Taber, all of Hampton, NH; and three sisters, Josephine Vano’Linda, Florence Weissman, and Lillian Zippiere, all of Amsterdam. Friends may call on Lee’s family from 9:30 to 10:30 am, Thursday, October 16, 2014 at the Jendrzejczak Funeral Home, 200 Church St., Amsterdam, NY 12010. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 am, Thursday, at the Saint Stanislaus Church. Rite of Committal will follow in Saint Stanislaus Cemetery, Amsterdam.
