Obituary of Gerald G. Remington

Thurman: Gerald Glen Remington, Sr., 73, of Bowen Hill Road, passed away peacefully, Wednesday, May 24, 2017, at Glens Falls Hospital, surrounded by his loving family, following a long illness. Born October 14, 1943 in Warrensburg, he was the son of the late Forrest and Martha (Baker) Remington. Jerry was employed by Warren County DPW for many years until he fell ill and retired in November of 1999. He was a very active sportsman who loved fishing, hunting, camping, playing the guitar, and spending time with his family. In addition to his parents, Gerry is predeceased by his brothers, Roger and Bobby Remington, and a step-son, Harold E. Tucker. He is survived by his beloved and devoted wife of 29 wonderful years, Frances (Gates) Remington; five children, Melissa Hill and her husband, James, of Queensbury, Sharon Remington and her companion, Joshua Morris, of Queensbury, Jerrie Shaw and her husband, Don, of Argyle, Laurie Remington and her companion, Jim Blanchard, of Argyle, and Gerald Remington, Jr. and his companion, April Gill, of Warrensburg; four step-children, Dolores Dingman, Cheryl Tucker, Rebecca Hayes, and Daryl Tucker; 18 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; a very special friend, Irene Bourdeau; siblings, Sharon Morrison and her husband, Terry, of Warrensburg, Donna Knickerbocker of Thurman, Laurie Nuwer and her husband, David, of Chestertown, and Terry Beadnell and his wife, Nancy of Thurman. He also leaves behind several nieces and nephews. Friends may call on Jerry’s family from noon to 3 pm, Saturday, May 27, 2017 at the Alexander Funeral Home, 3809 Main St., Warrensburg. A funeral service to celebrate his life will immediately follow the visitation at 3 pm, at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations in Jerry’s memory to the American Alzheimer’s Association at www.alz.org/donate.
