Please share a memory of Nancy to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Warrensburg:
It is with great sadness that the family of Nancy Lee Stone announces her passing after a courageous battle with COPD on February 11, 2017, at the age of 76.
Born June 1, 1940 in Plattsburgh, Nancy was the daughter of the late Charles F. Milliette and Gladys E. Sherman Milliette.
Nancy grew up in Plattsburgh, graduated from St. John’s Academy class of 1958, and then graduated from the State University of New York at Plattsburgh with a degree in education in 1962.
Nancy moved to Warrensburgh, N.Y. in 1969. She taught in many of the local area schools but spent a great deal of her teaching career at Warrensburgh Central School and BOCES as a home economics teacher.
Nancy enjoyed spending her time with friends and family and enjoyed spoiling everyone with her delicious meals. Her children remember her for caring ways, love of gardening, and passion that she put into everything she set her mind to. Her grandchildren will always value their fond memories of her delicious baking, Friday night sleepovers, swimming in her pool while she gardened around them, her desire to hang on to everything because you never know when it may come in handy, and her uncanny ability to always know the temperature outside and remind them that they were probably incorrectly dressed for the weather. They also remember how great of a hostess she was, especially during the holiday times, as she always made it a very comforting and relaxing time for all. Her great grandchildren will cherish the time they spent with her doing puzzles, shopping for anything and everything, and learning how to grow all of her favorite flowers. They look forward to spreading all the seeds they collected with her this year in their garden to watch her love continue to spread.
Nancy is predeceased by her former husband, Frederick C. Stone Sr.; her sister-in-law Linda Stone Friend; her brother-in-law Charles L. Orem; and her son-in-law, Dale E. Bealmear.
Nancy is survived by her loving daughter Colleen M. Bealmear of Lake George, N.Y.; caring son Frederick C. Stone Jr. and his wife Carolyn S. Stone of Potsdam; granddaughter Kaitlyn A. Quick and her husband Kevin J. Quick of South Glens Falls; grandsons Benjamin A. Stone of South Bend, I.N. and Daniel F. Stone of Potsdam; great-grandchildren Natalie J. Quick, Nathaniel A. Quick, and Nicolette I. Quick of South Glens Falls; sister Carol Gillis and her husband Paul Gillis of Dover, D.E.; sister Patricia Orem of Plattsburgh; and nephew Chip Barnaby and his children and grandchildren of Plattsburgh. She is also survived by her dear friend Polly Arehart of Warrensburgh, N.Y. who she cherished her daily coffee and chats with for many, many years.
Nancy’s family would also like to thank Kimberly Viehmann for the compassionate care and friendship that she gave to Nancy. Nancy always spoke very highly of Kim and loved the time they spent together.
Friends may call on Nancy’s family from 1 to 2 pm, Saturday, March 4, 2017 at Church of the Holy Cross, 3764 Main St., Warrensburg.
A Requiem Mass will follow the visitation at 2 pm, at the church with Fr. Thomas Pettigrew, Rector, officiating.
A reception will immediately follow at the Merrill Magee House to celebrate Nancy’s life and share the fond memories we all will forever cherish.
