Warrensburg: Gertrude E. "Gert" Griffin, 86, of Oak Street, passed away peacefully, Sunday, March 20, 2016 at the Glens Falls Hospital following a brief illness. Born June 11, 1929 in Warrensburg, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Thelma (Stone) Brown. She was a lifelong resident of the area, graduating from Warrensburg Central School in 1947. She married Paul Richard “Dick” Griffin on October 9, 1955. Gertrude was a faithful employee at Engle’s Department Store and a long time communicant of the Holy Cross Episcopal Church in Warrensburg. Besides spending time with her family, she enjoyed playing bingo. Besides her parents, she is predeceased by her beloved husband of 38 years, Paul Griffin, who passed away on April 6, 1994, and her brother’s, Ralph and Donald Brown. She is survived by her son, Andrew S. Griffin and his wife, Vivian of Warrensburg; her daughters, Ellen L. Robertson and her companion, MaryAnn of North Rose, and Susan E. Griffin of Louisa County, VA; her grandchildren, Jeffrey Mattison, Paul Griffin, Dustin Robertson, as well as several great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins. At Gertrude’s request, there are no calling hours scheduled. A graveside service will be conducted privately in Warrensburg Cemetery.
