Obituary of Wallace O. Persons

Warrensburg: Wallace O. “Shorty” Persons, 70, of Schroon River Road, passed away unexpectedly, Monday, December 11, 2017 at his home following a long illness. Born November 15, 1947 in Glens Falls, he was the son of the late Kenneth and Isadore (Smith) Persons. He was a lifelong resident of the area and attended Bolton Central School. He began his working career with Kubricky Construction on a bridge construction crew, but eventually began pouring concrete foundations and stone masonry. He was taught by the best, and quickly became one of the best stone mason’s in the area and eventually started his own business, S.P. Masonry for over 20 years until health issues forced him to retire in 2015. He was an avid outdoorsman and exceptional hunter, dedicating a whole room in his house to proudly display his many mounts. Besides his parents, he is predeceased by his brother, Jim Persons. He is survived by his four children, Jeffrey Persons and his wife, Melanie of Bolton Landing, Dede Kneeshaw and her husband, Skip of Bolton Landing, Jamie Persons and his companion, Amanda Sady of Warrensburg and Joshua Persons and his fiancée, Kayla Bliss of Warrensburg; his grandchildren Caleb and Kelsey Kneeshaw, Tori, Josh and Abbie Persons, Daunte and Bryelle Persons; his siblings, Helen Smith of Brant Lake, Gertrude Newton and her husband, Bob of Brant Lake, Harriet Chamberlain of South Glens Falls, and Kenneth Persons and his wife, Diane of Warrensburg; sister-in-law, Carolyn Persons of Bolton Landing; as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins, and best friends, Bobby Alger, John Baker, Naylor Wells, and Jerry Sprague. He is also survived by his lifelong friend and caregiver, Denise Smith of South Glens Falls. Friends may call on Shorty’s family from 2 to 4 pm, Sunday, December 17, 2017 at the Alexander Funeral Home, 3809 Main St., Warrensburg.
